Make money selling information on eBay in the form of electronic books, or eBooks, is another way to increase your eBay business opportunities.   

If you're not familiar with eBooks, they're basically electronic books in a pdf or html format which you can write and put together for little money and send easily by e-mail.  eBooks usually are informative, how-to books on anything from growing great tomatoes to how to be a stay-at-home-mom and make big bucks on the internet.  You can either write one yourself, or buy one with the resell rights.  Of course, buying an ebook with the resell rights is easier, but writing one yourself is usually more lucrative because you're the only one selling that particular eBook on eBay.  In addition to putting your eBook up for bid on eBay, you can also broaden your selling scope by putting it on Clickbank.com, a repository of every eBook under the sun. 

When you have your eBook written, you could go to the Adobe website and convert your document to pdf file, which most eBooks use.  There are also many different types of compilers out there to help you add pizzazz to your eBooks.

Why type of eBooks are popular sellers on eBay? Some eBayers make money selling business opportunities on eBay.  For example, the most popular eBook being sold on eBay at the moment is a Police Auction eBook (an eBook detailing how to buy items cheaply at police auctions and reselling them for a profit on eBay).  Obviously the most popular eBooks are those about how to make money, usually with home based internet businesses.  Other popular eBooks are self-help ebooks, like "make your own hypnosis CDs" ebooks.  Do they sell for much?  The Police auction eBook appears to be selling for a nice amount, but most sell for very little.  The idea here is to sell a large quantity for a low price.  And, remember, once it's written (or bought with the master resell rights) there's no postage to tack on and very little effort beyond listing it on eBay and e-mailing it to the buyer. 

Another way to use eBooks on eBay is to offer them as a free bonus to the item you're selling.  For example.  If you're selling ties, throw in a mini-eBook on "how to tie a tie."  Do you know that "how to tie a tie" is searched over 35,000 times a month on the internet according to the Overture search tool?  That's a lot of people wanting to know "how to tie a tie."  What type of eBooks could you write and give as bonuses to help sell your products?  Think of what your hobbies are, what you're passionate about.  Chances are there are people out there just like you.  You could write:

craft project ebooks
general garden ebooks
food preserving ebooks
aromatherapy ebooks
water gardening ebooks
tips on starting a fantasy league ebooks

The list of what you could write is only limited by your imagination.
 
Many people use eBooks to market their websites, and include links within the eBooks to their sites or sites they're affiliated with.  That's why some people sell their eBooks really cheap, as a form of marketing.  Their real intent is not to make money from the eBook, but to get the clicks to their sites.

Some say the eBay eBook market is dead. I say it’s not. I’ve cracked the eBay eBook selling code and in this article I will outline the three major rules I follow to ensure that my eBooks fly off the shelves while others struggle to get rid of their 99c eBooks.

Rule #1 – Be Original!

This is the most important rule in eBay eBook selling. If you can market your auctions in a unique and original way compared to others, then you will experience success. You can be original by creating new auction titles, getting new product graphics, manipulating the eBook sales letter and creating a unique twist to your product like adding unannounced bonuses. By doing this you build your reputation and create a solid customer base of clients who trust you and are likely to return to your auctions at a later date.

You could also consider locating new and hidden eBooks that no-one else is selling. This way you can dominate the market for that particular eBook.

Being original will cause eBayers all over the world to talk about your auctions and this will create a stampede of traffic to your eBay auctions in no time at all.

Rule #2 – Persevere!

Too many times I see sellers closing up their eBay stores and cancelling their eBay eBook auctions because they can’t handle the competition. It doesn’t take much to stand out from the rest and a few simple changes will enable you to get rid of those eBooks. If you give up at the first hurdle then there’s no point in you even attempting to start an online business. If you do come to a big brick wall use Rule #1 to help you out.

Rule #3 – The customer is ALWAYS right!

Yes, it may be hard to swallow sometimes when you have a customer sending you offensive e-mails but just smile and take it on the chin. Rectify the situation and move on. As an eBay eBook seller feedback is your most important asset. eBooks aren’t like tangible goods. With tangible goods you can see images of the item. You know what it looks like, you know what it does and you know what its benefits are. But you don’t know that with eBooks. eBay buyers tend to use a sellers feedback ratings and comments to work out whether or not the book is worth buying. Keep it green!
