eBay Auction Tools

If you really want to make money on eBay, you need to make use of all the eBay auction tools available. Some tools help you find what products will sell best, while some help you find suppliers of those products. Some tools are free, and others charge a fee for their services.

Tools to Help You Know What to Sell

The following tools are available which can help you research what products have the best chances of successfully selling on eBay.  While many people want to sell the trendiest items out there, trendy products have the most competition, and may not be the best product for you to sell.  You need to know which items have high demand, but low competition.  What auction tools out there can help you find the products you should sell?

Worldwide Brands: Worldwide Brands offers a wide array of tools for you to be a successful eBay seller, including a research tool which tells you what will be a good item to sell on eBay. For example, let's look at iPods. When I run iPods in the Worldwide Brands research tool, I am given a score of 23%, making it a difficult item to sell. You'd be surprised at which products give scores of 60% and above. The fee for joining Worldwide Brands is $299 per year for a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP. If you only have your online business for 10 years that's just under $30 a year. Check them out: Worldwide Brands.

eBay Research by Terapeak: Terapeak is another online service which offers an amazing amount of information for eBay Sellers, including when to sell, and what to sell. Terapeak's software actually finds products for you which are consistently high in demand. The price for Terapeak starts at $24 per month, with $2.95 per month more for certain add-ons, such as the Hot Product Search I just described above. $24 a month may seem like a lot, but, if you want to live off your eBay business, it's really an indispensible tool. Check it out: eBay Research by Terapeak

eBay Pulse:  You can research popular items in different categories by going to eBay and going to the eBay Pulse page.  Free.

Popular Searches Page on eBay:  The popular searches page on eBay will show you popular searches by category.  Free.

eBay WantItNow Page:  The WantItNow page on eBay lists those items which people want but can't find.  These, then are items with very low competition.  You can search through it and see if there are several people wanting the same item, which shows you the demand for the product.  Free.

Auction Inspector: While the WantItNow feature of eBay can be a goldmine for sellers, it can also be incredibly tedious to go through. That's where the Auction Inspector comes in. The Auction Inspector is software which goes through the many thousands of requests on WantItNow, taking the number of requests for the products and the number of responses of sellers, determining which products are those with the highest potential for you. The cost for Auction Inspector is $39.95, with a 60-day money-back guarantee. Check it out at Auction Inspector

Tools Which Help You Find the Products

Once you've determined which products you should sell, how do you actually find the products?

Worldwide Brands: I love worldwide Brands. Not only do they offer a ton of educational materials on their site, but they also have some of the best product sourcing products and services around. In addition to the fabulous product research tools listed above, they also will give you the names and contact info for companies where you can buy the products wholesale, and those which will drop ship for you. Often you can just click through to the companies, which have been pre-screened by Worldwide Brands, and which have agreed to work with eBay sellers (you'd be surprised, but many won't). Worldwide Brands has access to suppliers offering over 8 million different products. And, what's more important, none of those suppliers are middlemen. They are true wholesale dropshippers. Check them out at Worldwide Brands

Salehoo: Salehoo is similar to Worldwide Brands, although they don't have the extensive amount of research. Salehoo offers access to over 8,000 product suppliers. Cost is $67 for a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP. Check them out at Salehoo

Reseller Marketplace by eBay: Reseller Marketplace is a service on eBay which allows sellers to find wholesale suppliers and dropshippers. It's a great service, but, unfortunately, it's only open to eBay Powersellers. But, if you're a Powerseller, it's a great service to take advantage of.

Liquidation.com: Liquidation.com is a wholesale auction site where you can go bid on wholesale lots. There are small lots of 2 on up to lots of hundreds.

Government Auctions & Foreclosures: GovernmentAuctions.org has items for auction that come from government seizures, liens, etc. They list auctions all over the country. Cost is $39.95 per year for unlimited access. Check them out at Government Auctions & Foreclosures.

No-Bids.com:  No-Bids.com is for those sellers who want to buy low on eBay with the hopes of reselling at a higher price.  This is a free tool which finds those auctions which are ending soon with no bids.  No bids can often mean you're getting something for a steal.  Free.

Auction-Typos.com:  This site is for those sellers wanting to find eBay auctions where the seller has misspelled the item's name in the title.  Sometimes you can find items that are selling for cheap because the item is misspelled, meaning the buyers aren't directed to the auction.  You type in a misspelling and the tool will show you which auctions apply.  Free.
